For the last two years I’ve been honored to be ask to speak at the annual STEM in the Middle Conference. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The “middle” refers to Middle School students. The Tech Collective started organizing the annual event in 2011. Last year and this my topic has been “Facebook Safety” or “You posted my picture where?????”
90 girls from around Rhode Island were selected to attend the one-day conference at Rhode Island College on Friday December 6, 2013. It’s an invigorating and inspiring day. The girls are actively interested in STEM topics and indicate a bright future for our state.
Each student attends three sessions. Options include electronics, chemistry, internet social media, and geography to name a few of the sessions.
If you’d like more information about the STEM in the Middle program go to the Tech Collective website.
